Why homeowners choose us

Careful fence staining in Chattanooga, done the right way.

Four things you'll notice on every fence project — from the first walk-around to the last picket.

Both sides finished

Fence finished only on the front weathers unevenly and can warp. We stain or paint both sides where they're accessible — even coordination with neighbors if it helps.

Owner-supervised

Tigran is personally on every fence staining job in Chattanooga — residential and commercial. 20+ years and his name on the work.

HOA-friendly

Working in an HOA neighborhood? We coordinate with your HOA on approved colors and finishes — exact SW color matching from your community's approved list.

Honest pricing

Detailed printed quote handed to you on the spot at the free estimate. What's in the quote is what you pay — no hidden fees, no surprises.

Fences we stain & paint

Every fence type, finished with the same care.

Wood privacy, picket, cedar, pressure-treated, and metal fences — including gates, posts, and pickets. All by the same owner-supervised crew.

Wood Privacy Fences

Full-property privacy fence staining or painting — both sides finished, tops sealed, the long linear stretches where wood weathers fastest.

Picket & Split-Rail

Picket fences, split-rail accent fences, front-yard decorative fences — detailed brushwork on every spindle and post cap.

Cedar Fences

Cedar takes stain beautifully and naturally resists rot. Semi-transparent stain shows the grain and warm tone — the premium choice for visible front yards.

Pressure-Treated Wood

Chattanooga's most common fence material. Needs 6+ months drying after install before staining — we'll do a water test at the estimate to confirm.

Metal & Aluminum Fences

Wrought-iron, aluminum, and steel fences — rust-inhibiting primer, direct-to-metal paint, and careful prep on any rusted areas.

Gates & Posts

Gates (often priced separately), posts, top caps, and pickets — the high-touch parts of any fence, finished with extra attention.

Stain or paint — which lasts longer on a fence?

Paint lasts longer on paper, but only if your fence is willing to hold it. Stain bonds with bare wood and weathers gracefully without scraping; paint covers more but peels when boards swell and shrink. The right answer depends on what the fence already has on it and how much maintenance you want.

Clear Sealer
Brand-new cedar / unfinished wood

Water repellent only. Lasts 1–2 years. Best for keeping new wood looking new while it ages naturally.

Semi-Transparent
Most wood fences (the default)

Adds tone while showing grain. Lasts 3–5 years. Re-coats without scraping. Right for most cedar and pressure-treated.

Solid Stain
Weathered or grey wood

Hides aging wood with solid color, but flexes with the boards. Lasts 4–7 years. Light scuff to re-coat.

Paint
Already-painted fences only

Solid opaque color. Lasts 5–9 years but peels eventually — needs sanding next time. Right when the fence is already painted and you want to keep it that way.

Not sure which fits your fence? We walk it with you and pick the option that matches the wood, the exposure, and how often you want to refresh.

Common questions

Fence staining questions, answered.

Should I stain or paint my fence?
For wood fences, stain is usually the right choice. Stain soaks into the wood, lets the grain show, and re-coats without scraping. Paint covers more — solid color, hides aging wood — but it can peel as boards expand and contract. Paint makes sense on fences that have been painted before or where you want a strong solid color. We walk both options at the estimate.
How long does fence staining take?
Most residential fences take 1 to 2 days, depending on linear footage and condition. Day one is pressure washing and light surface prep; day two is stain or paint application on both sides. Larger properties with several hundred linear feet can run 3 to 4 days.
Do you finish both sides of the fence?
Yes, both sides where they're accessible. A fence finished only on the front weathers at different rates on each side and can warp. Finishing both sides protects the wood evenly and lasts noticeably longer. We coordinate with neighbors if needed for access to the back side.
Can you paint metal or aluminum fences?
Yes. Metal and aluminum fences need rust-inhibiting primer and direct-to-metal paint — different products than wood. We scuff sand, prime any rust spots, and paint with a finish built to hold up outdoors. Vinyl fences we don't paint — the material doesn't hold paint long-term.
How soon after a new pressure-treated fence can you stain it?
We recommend waiting at least 6 months. Pressure-treated wood is shipped wet with preservative and needs time to dry before stain bonds properly. We do a water test at the estimate — if water beads up instead of soaking in, the wood isn't ready yet.
Do you repair fence sections or replace rotten posts?
No — we focus on staining and painting, not carpentry. We do flag any structural problems at the estimate (rotten posts, leaning sections, missing pickets) so you decide on repairs with a fence contractor before we stain. Painting over rot just hides it for a season.
Can you match HOA-approved colors?
Yes — we regularly work in HOA neighborhoods across Lookout Mountain, Signal Mountain, Black Creek, and other communities with strict color guidelines. Send us the approved color list at the estimate and we'll match it exactly from the Sherwin-Williams book — no guesswork, no HOA letters.
Do you stain gates and posts too?
Yes — gates, posts, and pickets are all part of a fence project. Gates are usually priced separately at the estimate since they involve hardware masking and sometimes light adjustment for swing. Posts and top caps are included in the linear-foot scope.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — licensed, bonded & insured (TN Home Improvement Contractor License #12728, $1M General Liability), with a 2-year workmanship warranty on every fence staining project — residential and commercial.
